Dan Chambers, the current controller of factual programmes at five, has been chosen to succeed Kevin Lygo as the station's director of programmes.

Chambers, 34, has worked at five since November 2001. Among his commissioning credits are: Britain's Finest ...; World War One in Colour; Battlefield Detectives, and the Revealed history strand. Chambers was also responsible for luring the entire former Top Gear production team and presenters from the BBC and on to the channel in the new Fifth Gear format.
