Optical Solutions Inc., a Minneapolis-based maker of passive optical networking equipment, said Wednesday, Sept. 3, it has received $15 million in its fifth institutional round of financing.

All large, institutional investors returned, said Optical Solutions CFO Jim Stewart. They comprise Sprout Group of New York; St. Paul Venture Capital of Minneapolis; Boston Millennia Partners of Boston; Coral Ventures of Minneapolis; Intel Capital of Santa Clara, Calif.; Corning Inc. of Corning, N.Y., and Menlo Ventures of Menlo Park, Calif. Cisco Systems Inc. joined as a new strategic investor.
