U.S. suitors may take the lead over European rivals in bidding for the Spacelabs Medical division of Finnish medical equipment maker Instrumentarium Corp., which is on the market after a European Commission takeover ruling earlier this week, but interest is expected to be tepid.
Analysts believe that Spacelabs, which makes medical devices, will be tougher to sell than last year -- when 15 companies entered due diligence before Instrumentarium eventually acquired it in July 2002 for about [Euro]142 million ($154 million).
