EDITOR'S NOTE: The program "12 Months to a Healthier Heart" is a community service of the Medical University of South Carolina's Heart & Vascular Center and partners Earth Fare - the Healthy Market and Cafe, Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission and Johnson & Wales University. The program focuses on better eating habits, more exercise and access to health information to help people reduce their chances of heart disease and stroke. On the first Wednesday of each month, The Post and Courier's Food section features highlights of the program and its monthly theme, including a a look at upcoming events.
