Byline: AMY REEVES
When a tech company first starts up, it's all about the gadgets. But sooner or later, management and continuity take on more importance.
Such is the story at SpectraLink Corp., maker of wireless phone networks.
Thirteen years after founding the firm, Bruce Holland has handed over the chief executive reins to John Elms, his former vice president of operations.
Elms took over on Sept. 1. Holland will stay on as chairman of the board.
"It will give Bruce the opportunity to focus on strategy and technology, which is where his personal interests lie," said Ben Guderian, SpectraLink's director of marketing.
"John has been running operations for about four years, so he's the right person to step in and run things day-to-day."
