Tech firms battle online ID theft

Retailers such as Amazon.com and eBay are teaming up with the likes of Microsoft, VeriSign and Visa to form the Coalition on Online Identity Theft. The group will educate users, share info on scams and push for tougher law enforcement. Users registered at least 75,000 complaints of online fraud last year. Losses more than tripled to $54 mil.

Hotels.com, Travelocity end deal

InterActive's hotel reservations network said it's no longer offering its inventory of rooms on the Travelocity Web site. Hotels.com said Travelocity, a Sabre Holdings unit, on Friday improperly ended the hotel reservation site's exclusivity on Travelocity. Travelocity said it'll start offering its own hotel room inventory.
