SEC seeks details on Grasso's pay
The agency says the NYSE chairman's $140 mil pay package "raises serious questions" on how well the exchange governs itself. SEC head William Donaldson, himself a former NYSE chairman, wants to know who makes up the exchange's compensation committee, how it operates and whether any members have financial ties to Grasso.

Dell: big businesses not spending
Corporations tend to be the last to boost spending, and many are sticking to budgets set during last year's doldrums, says the PC direct seller's patriarch, Michael Dell. But small business and consumer spending is up, as is Asia, where SARS had delayed spending. Wi-Fi, bigger screens and faster chips are fueling laptop demand. Dell rose 3% on a strong day for techs.
