A Wild West mentality has governed the Internet during the last decade. Electronic versions of Holdup men waited to ambush stagecoaches, rustlers stole cattle and bank robbers grabbed money while gamblers and dancehall girls prospered.
However, just as the Wild West changed, so is the Internet changing. Law enforcement men and women are taking over from people like Jesse James, the Sundance Kid, Billy the Kid, the Montana Kid and other kids.
The law enforcement takeover of electronic commerce, however, will be slow and low key. Nevertheless, it will affect everybody's business. By the time the next decade ends, you'll hardly recognize electronic business or e-commerce.
