Neither e-mail nor electronic bill paying nor online tax filing has kept the U.S. Postal Service from meeting its appointed rounds - and racking up five straight years of profits. But the growing threat of the Internet shouldn't be underestimated. The General Accounting Office warned in a report earlier this year that the Postal Service "may be nearing the end of an era."
