After clearing the 30-40 range in mid-March, Kohl's advanced as high as 66 1/2.Since then it has been working on a 23-week base. It's 10% off its high.

Kohl's operates about 300 specialty department stores that sell national brand merchandise, including houseware, apparel and shoes.

Earnings growth for the past seven quarters was 29% or higher. Sales growth was20% or higher in the past eight quarters.

Of the 21 stocks in IBD's Retail-Depart

ment Stores group, Kohl's has the highest Earnings Per Share Rating at 98. But the group has suffered the past nine weeks. It's currently ranked 115 among IBD's 197 industries.
