Have you ever wondered why writing out a goal helps achieve it? "Writing it down sends a notice to the universe, 'Hey! I'm ready!' " explained Henriette Anne Klauser, an Edmonds, Wash.-based goals and writing coach, entrepreneur andauthor of "Write It Down, Make It Happen," published by Scribner in 2000.
Writing a goal is like posting an "open for business" sign that invites goal-related information, ideas and energy to come your way.
The wri
tten goal also sends a message to your brain you're serious about fulfilling a particular dream.
"Once you write down a goal, your brain will be working overtime to see that you get it and will alert you to the signs and signals" around you that will help you achieve it, Klauser wrote.
Anyone - even self-professed "nonwriters" - can benefit from goal-oriented writing. Start by finding a peaceful place to sit and list everything you want to do, achieve, have and be.
"Write fast. Do not linger over the page," Klauser advised. "If you find yourself dismissing a goal as grandiose or far-fetched, write it anyway and puta star next to it. That's a live one."
