Twenty years ago, you might not have thought you needed an answering machine. Nowadays you probably wonder how you ever got along without one.
That's what the folks at Mobile Mini Inc. hope will happen with the company's mobile storage units. As Americans and their businesses have more stuff and less space to put it in, Mobile Mini is on a crusade to solve the problem.
"Our market is not so much underserved as unknown," said Chief Executive Steven Bunger. "Most businesses aren't aware of the service we offer. Our strategy isn't taking market share away from anyone. It's creating new markets."
The company manufactures, leases and sells portable storage containers and mobile offices. Clients range from retailers and construction firms to the U.S.government. Some of its clients used to store goods in self-storage units. Many simply did without.
Now they can rent one of Mobile Mini's refurbished shipping containers and keep it out back to hold excess inventory and other sundries.
