Hewlett-Packard, with help from Internet media delivery company RealNetworksInc., is marching to the beat of a different drummer.
The computer maker is stepping up its efforts in digital entertainment.
HP is one of many companies hoping to make their mark on "digital convergence." That's the intersection of digital consumer electronics, music and video on personal computers.
Several others are making similar strides. Their ranks include Compaq Computer Corp. and Dell Computer Corp.
HP and RealNetworks this month said HP will make a product that will link PCs to stereos and TV sets, and will run on RealNetworks software. The product will be out by the Christmas holiday season, they said.
