The future of the Internet is on TV.
So says EarthLink Inc., one of the largest consumer Internet service providers in the U.S.
This fall, EarthLink could be the first ISP in the U.S. to offer its serviceon TV sets without requiring subscribers to rent or buy set-top boxes -- the devices normally used to surf the Web on a TV.
EarthLink, which has 4.7 million subscribers, is trying to get in on the ground floor of the next big thing in Net service -- television.
"As the Net penetration continues, people are going to want to connect usingtheir TVs . . . and we are going to be able to play there," said Lance Weatherby, an EarthLink executive vice president.
