as best states for finding jobs
Both states had the best environments for finding jobs in February, says a report by FlipDog.com, a job site, and its strategic partner, HireStrategy. Thestates had low joblessness and a high number of jobs available. As the economymoves into tougher times, firms have cooled hiring plans. New Mexico and NorthCarolina saw the worst deterioration in the job-hunting climate during th
e month. That gets them closer to the most difficult job-hunting states, Mississippi and West Virginia.
Construction industry still soaring
Construction starts rose 5% in January to a $480.2 billion annual rate, said F.W. Dodge, a construction information firm. Building was boosted by gains in nonresidential and nonbuilding projects. "Despite various signs of economic deceleration, the construction industry has yet to experience much weakening," F.W. Dodge said. It sees more growth for public works and institutional building during the year. It's unsure about demand for homes and commercial projects.
U.S. illegally hiked duties on steel
