The Nasdaq spent another day seesawing between positive and negative territory Thursday.
The composite index finished the day on the plus side, with a gain of 10.06 points, or 0.36%, to 2782.79. Volume shrank 25% as 1.78 billion shares changed hands.

proached by a consortium of groups about its linked shares with De Beers Centenary, which holds the firm's non-South African interests. De Beers Consolidated holds the firm's South African assets. Reportedly, the offer wouldvalue the linked units at $40 a share.
Financial services firm Actrade Financial Technologies logged its fourth straight win, surging 2.69 to 34 as volume more than quadrupled. The stock, which is near the top of a 21-week base, finished just 5% short of its old high. On Wednesday, the financial services firm weighed in with earnings that were 34% higher than the Street was expecting.
