Pirate attacks reach a new high,
with Indonesia's waters the worst
Seventy-two people were killed in 469 attacks last year, a maritime monitoring group reported. The number of pirate attacks in 2000 rose 57% from 1999, with about one-third of them occurring in Indonesian waters, the International Maritime Bureau said in its annual report.
