Heavy on the SSR
Why build a $42,000 truck that no one would dare use as a truck? Why build a $42,000 drop-top car that has the handling and comfort of, well, a truck? The price is too much for anyone other than car collectors or customizers, since (after dealer gouging) it will drive away for $50,000.
Thankfully, they didn't waste the El Camino name on it.

I applaud Chevrolet's work, but I would have much rather seen the effort put forth redesigning the Camaro/Firebird platform, as Ford has done with the Mustang.
Lawrence Zarcone, Mahopac, N.Y.
Does Chevy really need another halo vehicle besides the Corvette? I won't be looking at a Venture or Malibu just because there's also an SSR on the showroom floor. I want to see Chevy make better, more interesting mainstream cars. I hope it builds the Nomad concept, with its two-door sportwagon look, rear-drive platform and V8. It would offer handsome retro styling, SUV-like convenience and car-like high performance. If built on the GTO's platform, costs could be kept reasonable, especially if Chevy also used it to replace the Monte Carlo and Impala.
