Two-pronged promo campaign delivers debut single from Scottish act

SPEEDWAY GENIE IN A BOTTLE/SAVE YOURSELF (INNOCENT)

By covering one of the most distinctive bootlegs of recent years--the Christina Aguilera and Strokes fusion known as A Strong Of Genius--four-piece Scottish guitar act Speedway were sure to get noticed. Which is exactly what is happening as UK media is fully serviced with the single this week.

But while their edgy cover establishes itself (the distinctive video entered The Box chart at 18 after two days on air last weekend) a second track, titled Save Yourself, is being used to show the breadth of self-written material the band have.

"It is good to have a track on the single that is 100% written by them to show people what they are capable of," says Innocent managing director Hugh Goldsmith, who has developed the band over the last two years. "I wouldn't expect Radio Two or a lot of other stations to play ...
