The option of moving the singles chart publication date to a Friday or Saturday is being actively considered in a bid to re-energize the singles market.

"We need to try things and I would feel more positive about a Friday release--it gives a few more options, as well as having a mid-week chart and moving Top Of The Pops. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are becoming the three biggest days in terms of overall volume.
