Toyota Motor Corp. has failed to convince the Court of Special Appeals to overturn a $16 million judgment won by a Bowie man who lost both his legs in a car accident because his seatback was fully reclined.
In an unreported opinion, Judge James P. Salmon wrote that the evidence at the May 2000 trial was "crystal clear" as to the potential dangers of being in a fully reclined seat in the event of an accident.
