Construction data corrected
The Commerce Dept. reissued its latest construction spending report due to a processing error that affected data for June, May and April. Construction spending for June grew 0.3% to an annualized rate of $872.5 bil, rather than the unchanged level first reported Friday. May construction spending slid 0.2% vs. the earlier 0.5% decline. April spending fell 0.4%, not 0.8%.
** A WTO farm trade deal may not win congressional approval unless substantial progress is made in cutting or eliminating export subsidies and improving market access for farm goods, said Texas Rep. Charles Stenholm, the ranking Democrat on the House Agriculture Committee.
Interest margin bonds hit high
Standard & Poor's said the supply of the bonds, which are backed by the excess money collected on home equity loans, swelled to a record $1.54 bil in Q2. That's the third straight quarter issuance topped $1 bil.
