SmartSelect' Composite Rating - Combines all 5 SmartSelect' Ratings into one easy-to-use rating. More weight is placed on EPS and RS Ratings, and the stock's percent off its 52-week high is also included in the formula. Results are then compared to all other companies, and each company is assigned a rating from 1-99 with 99 being the best. A 90 rating means that the stock has outperformed 90% of all other stocks in terms of its combined SmartSelect' Ratings.

IBD SmartSelect' Corporate Ratings:

Earnings Per Share (EPS) Rating measures a stock's short (last few quarters)and long-term (last 3 years) earnings growth rate. Results are compared to allother companies and ranked from 1 to 99, with 99 best. A 90 rating means earnings outperformed 90% of all others.

Relative Price Strength (RS) Rating measures a stock's relative price changein the last 12 months compared to all other stocks. Results are on the same simple 1 to 99 scale. Better companies have both an EPS and Relative Strength Rating of 80 or higher.

Industry Relative Price Strength Rating compares a stock's industry price action in the last 6 months to 196 other industries. A = best performing industries, E = the worst.

Sales Profit Margins ROE (Return On Equity) Rating combines into one simple A to E rating a firm's sales growth rate in the last 3 quarters, before and after tax profit margins and return on equity.

Accumulation/Distribution Rating uses a proprietary formula to analyze a stock's price and volume changes in the past 13 weeks to find if it has been under accumulation (buying) or distribution (selling). An A rating means heavy buying, C neutral action, and E heavy selling.
