You're Not Imagining It:
Fewer Job Ads Are Online
The volume of help-wanted ads on the Web keeps falling each week, notes Sophia Koropeckyi, senior economist at Economy.com/The Dismal Scientist in West Chester, Pa.
That's a sign that firms that hire mostly white-collar workers are still anxious about the state of the economy, she says.
"While layoffs have abated somewhat, employers are cautious about taking on new workers," Koropeckyi said.
Economy.com's Online Help Wanted Index fell to 96.1 for June, the research firm reports. The reading below 100 means that job ad volume on the Web is falling.
