Scientists found a way to take a cell from an infertile woman and insert it in an empty donated egg. The resulting egg contains the genetic material of the woman who wants to be a mother. The method was described at a conference of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.
French scientists used frozen sheep ovaries to produce live animals. The ovaries were removed, halved, frozen for up to three months, thawed and then grafted back into the same animals. The technique could help women undergoing cancer treatment who otherwise couldn't conceive.
