Weyerhaeuser wins rival's seats
A preliminary vote count showed three candidates from Weyerhaeuser narrowly won seats on Willamette Industries' board, ousting Willamette CEO Duane McDougall. Willamette still controls a majority of the nine-member board and vowed to remain independent. But Weyerhaeuser won most of the votes by non-insiders. The vote is a key step in Weyerhaeuser's $5.5 billion, $50-a-share hostile bid.

Nasdaq resets 46 Friday prices
The exchange recalculated closing prices for stocks such as Microsoft and Dell Computer to correct errant figures in the wake of Friday's chaotic, extended session. The Nasdaq extended trading by an hour to 5 p.m. Eastern time after a WorldCom employee accidentally disrupted trading. Mutual funds and other big institutions were rushing to buy strong stocks at the quarter's end, a practice known as window-dressing. The small-cap Russell 2000 also was reshuffled. Because of the confusion, Friday's prices for many mutual funds weren't available.
