WWF Goes For Takedown
With Broadband
The World Wrestling Federation wants to put the smackdown on the slow rollout of broadband Internet.
World Wrestling Federation Entertainment Inc. plans to put broadband video-on-demand programming online soon to drive adoption of high-speed Internet service.
"If we provide the content at broadband speeds, we incentivize people to get broadband connections," said Gerry Louw, WWF's chief technology officer. "We're saying, "Let's create the industry. Let's give people a reason to get broadband.' "
WWF executives are now in talks with potential technology partners to provide live and prerecorded video on demand. The Stamford, Conn., company hopes to do a trial of the technology by year-end, Louw says.
