The Japanese prime minister told reporters he will urge the U.S. to honor the Kyoto climate treaty, which calls for reduced emissions of the heat-trapping gases believed to be warming Earth's atmosphere. On his first trip to the U.S. since taking office, Junichiro Koizumi said he'd try to mediate an agreement between Europe and the U.S. on cutting emissions. He was expected to meet with President Bush at Camp David on Saturday.
