Stock picker's market in 2nd qtr,
as big winners sprint past pack
It hasn't been easy for investors to make money in the second quarter. But there have been some great stocks. IBD found 36 top-rated stocks that rose 50% or more in the second quarter. Software maker Manhattan Associates led with a 154% gain, but it's still down 9% for the year. The list also includes standouts such as Krispy Kreme, Taro Pharmaceuticals, Metro One Telecom, Hotel Reservation Network and Direct Focus.

Delta grounds jets, cuts schedule
Delta Air Lines will cut capacity 1.4% by removing 10 aircraft from its schedule. The No. 3 airline cited steep fuel prices, a weak economy and the cost of maintaining older planes. Delta will pull them gradually, beginning Sept. 1. U.S. airlines are facing the sharpest revenue decline in two decades. Northwest Airlines said Thursday it will cut flights in the fall, leading to job cuts.
