The death toll neared 300 in the worst Hindu-Muslim clashes in a decade. Attackers set fire to a village, killing at least 30 in one of several attacks in Gujarat state. It was believed to be a Muslim village. Indian officials wouldn't say. Police said they arrested 63 for an arson attack on a train that killed 58 Hindus.
