Rumsfeld is wary of more attacks
Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said the U.S. must prepare now for potential surprise attacks "vastly more deadly" than those on Sept. 11. Rumsfeld said the U.S. is vulnerable to new terrorism from cyber-attacks to attacks on overseas military bases to ballistic missiles fired on American cities. He said the $48 bil boost in defense spending sought by the president would help modernize the military.
