Multimedia's profit, sales rocket
The interactive bingo game maker earned 49 cents a share in Q1 vs. 6 cents a year ago. That beat views by 8 cents. Sales soared 173% to $59 mil, its fourth straight quarter of faster growth. Multimedia Games also raised its '02 guidance to $1.33, adjusted for a Feb. 11 3-for-2 split. Analysts see $1.29, up 140%. Multimedia, which provides gaming systems and services to Indian casinos, rose 1.60, or 4%, to 38.60.
Travel slump hits MGM Mirage net
The casino-hotel operator's Q4 profit tumbled 58% to 18 cents a share, beating views by a dime. The owner of the Mirage, MGM Grand and Bellagio said revenue slid 13% to $896 mil. It reiterated Q1 views of 24 cents, down 55%.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts lost a penny a share in Q4, ex-items. The Street saw a 3-cent loss. Starwood expects a 2nd-half rebound.
