Dime Community Bancshares more than doubled in price in a year, then fell into its current base in August. By Jan. 16, the stock had clawed its way back within 0.50 point of its old high. It's since pulled back and may be forming a handle.

The firm is the parent company of Dime Savings Bank. It was founded in 1864 and now operates 18 branches in the New York City area.

Earlier this month Dime topped analysts' 53-cent estimate with December second-quarter earnings of 55 cents a share.
