Pre-Paid Legal Services added 0.64 to 22.54 on volume 80% above average. The provider of prepaid access to attorneys for a monthly fee earned $4 million from the sale of its Universal Fidelity Life Insurance subsidiary.
Enzo Biochem advanced 1.05 to 24.55 as volume swelled more than twofold. The maker of diagnostic products using genetic engineering and biotechnology remains 31% off its 52-week high.
Despite the market's overall gains, a number of stocks fell on fast trade. Corn Products International shed 3.18 to 32.07 on nearly seven times its typical turnover. The maker of corn-based foods and food ingredients lost ground after the Mexican Congress approved a tax cut on soft drinks that would whack mostly those sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup.
