Defendant Fights Terrorist Charge
Jordanian lawyers defending a U.S.-born man charged with plotting attacks on U.S. targets on orders of Osama bin Laden accused prosecutors of exploiting the Sept. 11 attack. Raed Hijazi, 33, was charged last year with 27 other suspected bin Laden followers of planning to attack Western and Israeli tourists in Jordan during the millennium celebrations. He was convicted in absentia, was later caught and was being retried.
Al-Qaida Computer: Ton Of Info?
A computer used by Osama bin Laden's agents in Afghanistan could be an intelligence bonanza, former military officials said. A U.S. intelligence official confirmed the computer bought by The Wall Street Journal in Kabul apparently had been used by al-Qaida and contained information on its chemical and biological program as well as other secrets that could help U.S. intelligence.
