Micron proposes Hynix merger

U.S. memory chip maker Micron offered a partial or total takeover in the latest talks with Hynix, South Korea's troubled chipmaker said. Earlier in Dec., the firms said they were seeking a strategic alliance and "other options." Experts speculated that could mean merger.

Sony, Fujitsu in Net alliance talks

Sony said the Japanese tech giants were in Internet talks but didn't elaborate. But the Nihon Keizai Shimbun newspaper said Sony may buy Fujitsu's Nifty, Japan's top Net access provider, for $763 mil. Sony wants to expand online, while Fujitsu wants to improve its finances.
