In "If The U.S. Wins" (National Issue, Dec. 14) Betsy McCaughey compares apples to oranges when equating voluntary illegal drug use to terrorism. The few U.S. citizens who abuse drugs may be screwing up their lives and their families, but they do so voluntarily.
The crime she cites is spawned not by drug use but by the current war on drugs. How much violent crime is generated by those who wish to control the currently legal alcohol and tobacco markets?
