Shoe Suspect Had Flown to Israel
Richard Reid, suspected of trying to blow up a Paris-Miami flight using shoes packed with explosives, in July flew to Israel on El Al. Israeli security checked his luggage, his person and his shoes. El Al did not disclose from which country Reid flew. He stayed in Israel a week and left for Egypt via the Palestinian-ruled Gaza Strip.
