The world of domain names is changing quickly.

Despite the downturn in dot-coms, there's still plenty of competition among companies that let you register Web addresses, also called domain names.

And new top-level Internet domain name extensions are coming to the market. That means instead of using just ".com," businesses can use ".biz" and other address enders.

But beware. You'll want to choose your registrar and domain name wisely.

Before you select a registrar, you should determine if it has good security protection, says Ellen Rony, author "The Domain Name Handbook." You'll also want to find out how easy it will be to change information and manage your accounts.
