Dr. Reddy's profit up on Prozac
The Indian drug firm earned $29.8 mil in Q2, up 385% from a year ago. Sales rose 92%. The firm began selling generic Prozac in Aug., when Eli Lilly's patent expired. Dr. Reddy's reaped $35 mil in the first two months of generic Prozac sales. It's shares rose 2.11, or 9%, to 24.90.
Teva Q3 earnings climbed 71%
The Israeli drug maker netted 58 cents a share, a nickel over views. Sales rose 12% to $505.7 mil. Sales of its multiple sclerosis drug Copaxone rose 44%. Teva expects to meet Q4 profit views of 60 cents and is comfortable with '02 forecasts. Germany's Schwarz Pharma recently filed a patent suit related to Teva's blood-pressure drug Univasc. Teva said it isn't worried. But its shares fell 2.02, or 3%, to 61.80.
Odyssey Healthcare rose 2.25, or 15%, to 17.25 in its IPO. The hospice services firm raised $54 mil by selling 3.6 mil shares at $15 each.
