Bankruptcy lawyers hired by UAL
United Airlines' parent sought their help soon after the Sept. 11 attack, an airline spokesman said. UAL may not be able to refinance its debt later this year if it doesn't get federal loan guarantees, it said after announcing a Q2 loss. It wants guarantees for nearly $2 bil in loans. UAL fell 20.5% to 4.17, its lowest close in at least 15 years.

Wild Oats' marketing boosts Q2
Wild Oats Markets, a natural and organic foods retailer, made 6 cents a share, beating views by 2 cents. Last year it lost 14 cents a share. Sales rose 3% to $236.2 mil. Weekly ad circulars helped. Wild Oats raised EPS targets for Q3 and Q4. It expects 2nd-half same-store sales to grow 5.5%-7.0%. It won't open more stores until early '03.
