Investors wary of Cisco results

The networking giant is expected to give a weak sales forecast again when it reports Q4 results after the close Tuesday. Positive Q1 guidance could hint at a recovery. Investors also wonder if Cisco will expense its stock options. Shares fell Thursday amid rumors CEO John Chambers and CFO Larry Carter will resign, which Cisco denied.

SBC: strict rules for bad clients

In the wake of bankruptcies by carriers like WorldCom, SBC Communications asked the FCC to OK stricter payment rules for customers with bad credit. The No. 2 U.S. local phone firm wants those who owe at least $1 mil to make one-month deposits or advance payment. Verizon, the No. 1 local Bell, last month filed a similar request.
