Disney meets views, warns on Q4
Walt Disney earned 17 cents a share in Q3, down 41% from a year ago but in line with views. Sales fell 3% to $5.8 bil. TV revenue fell 10% to $2.1 bil, as ABC's ratings lag. The entertainment giant sees Q4 EPS shy of last year's 13 cents. Analysts saw 16 cents. Disney blames weak travel and tourism: Theme park reservations for Q4 are down 10%. Disney fell after hours.
Disney says it favors guidelines for expensing stock options, but says it won't expense them until regulations are in place.
Comcast's Q2 results a mixed bag
The cable firm made 15 cents a share, 4 cents short of views. Revenue rose 16% to $2.71 bil. Operating cash flow, which analysts prefer to use as a yardstick for cable firms, rose 25% to $866.6 mil, beating the high end of expectations. Not counted in these figures is Comcast's loss of 57 cents a share from investments, largely in AT&T. It's buying AT&T's cable unit.
