It's all about personalization.
Over the past year, more than 6 million U.S. households moved out of their old digs and into new or previously owned homes, according to the National Association of Realtors and the Commerce Department.
Their first order of business? Making a new home their own. For that, many head to home furnishings retailer Bed Bath & Beyond Inc.
The firm operates 409 stores in 44 states and Puerto Rico. It's growing its square footage about 20% a year. Management has said it can support as many as 950 stores in the long term.
The housing market's strength drives part of that growth, says analyst Bernard Sosnick of Fahnestock Inc.
"We've been in a favorable market for new and existing home sales, which undoubtedly has created demand for home furnishings," he said.
