TRW OKs Northrop's $7.8 bil bid
Defense firm Northrop Grumman will buy defense and auto parts firm TRW. It sweetened the offer several times. The deal helps Northrop in satellite communications and missile systems. Northrop will shed TRW's auto parts ops. Regulators should OK the deal, analysts said. TRW lost under 1%. Northrop fell 5%.
Raytheon ups power plant loss
The defense contractor raised by about 50% to over $1.2 bil its loss estimate on the last two power plants it'll build. Raytheon blamed contractors that aren't motivated to finish. The projects are part of discontinued ops Raytheon sold in July '00 but still must build. It fell 9%.
