Today marks the annual migration of investment advisers to Chicago. This year's Morningstar Conference is the 14th annual one.
With the market foundering, advisers are especially eager to harvest ideas from the conclave's lineup of mutual fund star managers.
"In the face of lackluster equity returns and low (bond) rates, advisers are wondering what to do with their clients' money," said Joe Mansueto, chief executive of host Morningstar Inc. "They're eager for suggestions from these top managers."
Hunger for ideas is strong enough that 900 advisers signed up to attend. That's up 12% from last year.
Advisers want to hear managers' views on restoring investor faith in corporate America.
