USA offers to buy out three units
Barry Diller's USA Interactive offered $4.5 bil to buy out its majority-owned Expedia, Ticketmaster and Hotels.com units to build up its e-commerce business. USA offered a 7.5% premium over its Friday close. It'll pay in stock, and will adjust the share ratios depending on USA's share price. Expedia and Ticketmaster rose 3%, Hotels.com gained 2%. They're mulling the offer. USA said the deal isn't dilutive, but it slid 13%.
Napster files for bankruptcy
The once popular song-swap service listed $7.9 mil in assets and about $101 mil of debt . The filing is part of a plan by German media giant Bertelsmann to take over what's left of Napster for $8 mil. Napster, which owes Bertelsmann $91 mil, has been offline since July.
