Websense broke out of a cup-with-handle base Friday, but reversed to close with a 0.49-point loss to 29.60 on triple average trade. The Web monitoring software maker moved into the black last year after several years of losses and is projected to grow earnings 188% in 2002. It's 15% off its Dec. 31 high of 35.
The firm went public at $18 in March 2000 and topped at 52.37 that week, then fell below 10 the following year. It has more down weeks than up weeks on above-average volume in its 22-week base, a possible danger sign.
