Wendy's to buy Mexican chain
It's buying Fresh Enterprises, owner of the Baja Fresh Mexican Grill chain, for $275 mil. Wendy's said the deal would cut profit by 2-4 cents a share in '02 and '03 but add to earnings by the same amount in '04. Wendy's reaffirmed its profit guidance for '02 of $1.85-$1.90. Wendy's rose 1.97, or 5.5%, to 37.97.
Lowe's still backs Q2 profit views of 53-54 cents and $1.66 to $1.69 for '02. The home improvement chain raised targets May 20.
