Americans Urged To Leave India
1The State Dept. also advised the 60,000 Americans there to stay clear of the Pakistan border because of a rising risk of all-out war between the two nuclear powers. The advisory was aimed at all but essential diplomats. It also cited terrorist groups linked to al-Qaida that are in the region. Both sides continued trading artillery fire.
May's Chicago Factory Index Up
2The closely watched index jumped to 60.8 from 54.7 in April, a sign the sector grew for a fourth-straight month and that the recovery is gathering steam. The new orders index spurted to 65.6 from 59, while the prices-paid gauge -- a measure of industrial inflation -- jumped to 58.3 from 55.4. Airline Boss: Drop Some Security
3American Air CEO Donald Carty said another terrorist attack against commercial airlines is unlikely and urged some measures added at airports be dropped. He said screening passengers at the gate after doing so at the security checkpoint merely adds to costs and customer hassles. Carty isn't opposed to pilots having handguns in cockpits.
